1970s Detached Backsplit – Week Three – Floors

Welcome back, guys!

Hope you all had a great weekend, and that everyone got to spend the snowy Toronto Sunday doing nothing but binge watching TV & lounging 🙂

I did a bit of baking for Fraser (but probably more so me) and made yummy from-scratch brownies with peanut butter icing, complete with pink & red Smarties in the shape of a heart! My attempt at a Valentines Day treat…

The rest of the weekend was filled with work, chores, puppy cuddles and long walks in the snow!

Meanwhile, over at our reno property, it was a very busy week! One of the biggest changes took place this week – every last bit of existing carpet and vinyl came up to make way for the gorgeous, original, untouched hardwood underneath.

There were a few dark spots on the carpet in the dining room before we removed it, which concerned us a bit going into the removal, as they could have posed an issue if anything had soaked into the hardwood below. We were really lucky though, and found that once the carpet came up, we had the perfect flooring conditions for sanding and staining!

We had a crew of 4 guys working tirelessly over 5 days to get the floor sanded, stained, buffed, polished and dried. They also tackled the basement and removed all the existing vinyl tile, then replaced it with Natural Hickory laminate flooring to modernize the space!

Check out some of the glorious before’s & after’s below! We’re getting there (and can’t wait to get a cleaning crew in)!!

Stay tuned for next week’s post featuring the KITCHEN!

See you soon!
